The following describes the process of configuring the item information that you want to publish on your NetStore site. The following is described:
- Building item catalogues which typically consists of the following:
- Define your catalogues
- Create the categories
- Build the catalogue structure (hierarchy)
- Add the items
- Connect the catalogues on Application and/or User group/User level
- Configuring the fields you want available on the Product search page
- Configuring and generating Item search databases
The building of catalogues is very flexible. You are able to present an unlimited number of item catalogues on the Internet. You can, for example, show various catalogues for items in your standard assortment and for campaigns or more specific catalogues for customer buying groups. Another alternative is to create a top-ten item catalogue that details your most frequently purchased items.
You can also allow your customers the choice of either surfing their way through the item catalogues or to use the search function to find the items they are after. You can easily structure and group your items into different sub-catalogues (i.e., later referred to as categories) in each catalogue. These can hold an infinite number of categories and products, with each level in turn being able to contain both categories and items. Several “presentation styles” accommodate for presenting these in various manners; a tree structure, dynamically expanding the structure as the visitor clicks through the hierarchy, or by expanding only the latest selected level. The catalogues can also be arranged in simple ways, like alphabetically. Validity periods can also be specified for every catalogue, category and/or items.
To further enhance the aesthetics and customer’s ordering experience, both images and thumbnails can be utilised and visitors can be presented with pertinent information and news, for instance.
